Top Five Products for Damaged Hair

It’s been really easy to avoid using hot tools on my hair this year which has helped minimize damage and allowed me to grow out my broken hair.

While I haven’t been using heat to dry my hair, whenever I do style it, there are five products I always use to tame my flyaways and help achieve a smooth look.

  1. R+CO Dart Pomade Stick

The single greatest hair product for pony lovers. This is essentially a hair-safe glue stick. Once you hair is up in a ponytail or bun, you apply the pomade stick directly to your hairline and flyaways to hold them down all day.

2. Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil

This one ounce bottle lasts for months. A few drops can tame all the crazy, short hairs that stick straight up when you wear your hair down – if you color your hair, you know what I’m talking about. It is restorative, smells great and will not make your hair greasy. The light texture is perfect as a finisher after styling your hair.

3. Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil

This is another product where a little goes a long way. I apply a small amount to damp hair to help detangle my hair out of the shower. If I do have to blow dry my hair, the oil also serves as a heat protectant. I’ve tried a ton of masks, detanglers, oils, etc. but this is the one product that gives me noticeably softer hair.

4. A Makeup Spoolie

This one is sorcery. A spoolie can be used for precision combing damaged hair. It’s especially helpful at your part and when you’re trying to achieve a slicked back look. Somewhere along the line I was getting my makeup done and the makeup artist took used a sample spoolie to get my hair off my forehead. I wish I remembered where I was so I could give the genius proper credit. You can get 300 on Amazon for $10. I keep one in my gym bag, my purse, my car…

5. Living Proof Flex Hairspray

This is my favorite brushable hairspray. I like to spray it in slightly damp hair when it’s easier to work with. It doesn’t get crunchy and has just the right amount of hold. It’s also great if you are someone who sprays as they go during curling because it has heat protection.

If you’ve colored your hair for a while or you suffer from breakage, give these a try to help with damage and make styling easier. Trust me, I’ve tried just about everything and these are my top five. Send me your other recommendations and please let me know if you purchase any of these for yourself.

Love,

Leigh
