This is a post I’ve thought about writing for more than two years and I don’t know exactly how to start it.
To be honest, I have some legit excuses as to why I stopped writing and posting. I started planning my wedding, teaching more classes, working nights and OT, I moved two or three times, started traveling more… but all of those reasons don’t change the fact that I really missed this. I missed connecting with my friends in other places and sharing the latest Insta ad I fell for. (There have been so many since 2018 – it might need it’s own series here.)
I always pushed off “starting the blog back up” and continued to pay for my domain, hoping it would motivate me to post again soon.
I sat down and thought about why it was so hard for me to go back to doing something I thought I enjoyed. Like many obstacles, I was in my own way. When I was consistently posting, I put a lot of pressure on myself to write a certain number of times a week or focus on just one area of interest. Looking back, I can say “who cares” because this isn’t a paid gig lol, but we always put more pressure on ourselves than anyone else does, right?
When my life changed and priorities shifted, I gave up completely instead of letting this platform change with me and now I know that it didn’t have to be that way.
When I started this blog, I had one job where I worked 40 hours a week and lived one block from my office. It was easy to go straight home and write. Since then I have shifted careers completely, taken on a side hustle, adopted a dog, gotten married, found new hobbies, and just like you, managed the stress and changes brought on by a global pandemic.
The point of this first post is that I’m not going to promise to you or myself that I will post “every Sunday and Thursday at 5 p.m.” or whatever false deadlines I previously set for myself. I do promise that I will write about things that I care about, find funny, or simply want you all to know about my life and interests, whenever I can.
I hope I never go this long without writing again but the wedding planning and moving gave me lots of premium content, I promise.
